The movies you watched too young would make a great post series. I would read.
My youngest daughter is 15 and loves Thirteen Ghosts and Scream. She’s a big Matthew Lillard fan and have taken her to meet him and Skeet Ulrich a couple of times.
I gotta watch Jason X finally this year! I actually am a Jason vs Freddy apologist so I bet Iike it.
Night of the Demons is awesome and a great Halloween movie I rotate every coupe of years. Glad to hear you’re a fan. Going to hopefully write on that series around Halloween season this year. Either that or the Ginger Snaps trilogy. Haven’t decided yet.
Wow, that is so cool! Your daughter has great taste. Lillard is an icon. He’s one of the best things about both those movies.
And yeah, I like the idea of a “Too Young” series. My dad showed me Child’s Play 2 at 4 and I had recurring nightmares for years. I was going to do a tongue-in-cheek parental guide on introducing horror to kids cause my 5-year-old daughter is now a huge fan of creature features.
I was wrestling with putting Freddy v. Jason on there instead of Jason X. I love F v. J. It’s very fun. Love the folded body in bed kill.
Those sound like great series whatever you should choose!
Don’t be ashamed! But it is a must watch and classic. I bet you like it. I plan on writing on it and it’s unloved sequel at some point.
Hey, right back at ya..great list. Very eclectic. Are the 13 Ghosts, Night of the Demons, and Haunted Hill any of the originals or the remakes?
I’ve seen them all but Jason X. The one glaring 90’s horror I’m ashamed of for not seeing. And I get that time as pivotal. Those were my high school and early college years so a lot of fun memories tied to some of these.
Thanks for posting! I love seeing others ppl’s lists.
It would be the ‘99 and ‘01 remakes of House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts respectively, though I’ve seen the Castle versions also. Thirteen Ghosts though is something special. Love it. And the Night of the Demons (1988) version is a classic.
Jason X is so fun! I just saw one of the pods you recced came out with an episode, so looking forward to that. And I love the HDTGM episode on it.
I was a bit younger and should not have been watching these during that time period lol, but probably why they made such an impact. I’m sure I’ll get to posting about these at some point.
You got it! I like the heavy metal Trick or Treat. It’s a fun Halloween watch but Daughtery’s Trick R Treat anthology is a seasonal classic I watch every Halloween.
And I’m ashamed to say I’ve actually never watched Angel Heart either. It’s been in my list for forever and have put it off. I’m going to put it on my Halloween season watch list this year.
Wow what a great list! I’m ashamed I’ve never seen An American Werewolf yet but it’s one I’ve been placing on a platform.
I don’t think I’ve ever put together a full list of my fave horror movies, so this was a tough exercise. But undoubtedly, my list is:
1. Scream
2. American Psycho
3. Halloween
4. Thirteen Ghosts
5. Midsommar
6. Misery
7. Black Christmas
8. Rosemary’s Baby
9. Dead Snow
10. Night of the Demons
11. Ginger Snaps
12. Valentine
13. Final Destination 3
14. The Faculty
15. Jason X
16. Evil Dead II
17. Alien vs Predator
18. House on Haunted Hill
19. Inside
20. Silence of the Lambs
1999-early 2000s was a pivotal time for me apparently.

Just to be clear, this is the Trick R Treat anthology, and not the hard rock one with Sammi Curr, right?

Nice eclectic list and I don’t think I’m familiar with The Night Devours the World. I’ll have to check it out.
I also see I have a fellow werewolf movie fan here as well!
